Shoot Em Up (2007)

Ever wondered what Clive Owen’s Bond would have been like? Look no further than this frenetic actioner, which sees his carrot-chomping¬ sharpshooter try to save a newly orphaned baby from the clutches of evil assassin¬ Giamatti.Over-the-top, cartoonish and ridiculously violent, Michael Davis’s film rivals Crank for sheer stupidity – at one point Owen has a shoot-out while shagging Bellucci’s maternal prostitute.But, thanks to its sneakily subversive¬ tone (the plot, with heavy irony, involves gun control) and grandstand performances¬, the flashy result¬ mostly hits the target.
